The 2025 Nigeria Beach Soccer League (NBSL) Super Finals kicked off in electrifying fashion at the scenic Jabi Lake Park, Abuja, on Thursday, with fans treated to a feast of goals and high-intensity action as the nation’s top beach soccer teams battled for supremacy.

The opening day produced three exciting matches, showcasing top-quality Beach football, individual brilliance, and plenty of entertainment — exactly what the NBSL is known for.

In the day’s curtain-raiser, Kada Beach Soccer Club proved too hot to handle for Kebbi United BSC, securing an emphatic 8–5 victory.

Kada’s prolific attacker Frank Dozie was the star of the show, scoring four goals and driving his team to a memorable win that earned him the Man of the Match award.

His teammates Sani Hassan and Hammed Kareem also impressed, each netting a brace.

Kebbi United, despite the defeat, showed great resilience as Sadik Umar, Isyaku Atiku, Ibrahim Malami, Abdullahi Aliyu, and Usman Bello all got on the scoresheet in an end-to-end encounter.

The second match saw Kebbi United BSC bounce back in style, overcoming Jigawa Golden Stars BSC 5–3 in another goal-laden thriller.

Star forward Sadik Umar was in devastating form, scoring four times to power his side to victory and claim the Man of the Match honor.

Despite spirited efforts and goals from Aliyu Rabiu, Bagudu Hamza, and Magudi Atahiru, Jigawa could not withstand Kebbi’s attacking firepower.

In the final match of the day, Kebbi Fishers BSC stamped their authority with a commanding 6–1 win over Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors.

Hamza Manga produced a brilliant hat-trick performance that lit up the evening, while Ekene Obi, Taiwo Adams, and Hassan Abdullahi added further goals to complete the rout. Stanley Ekwo scored the consolation for Anambra.

Manga’s leadership and sharp finishing earned him the Man of the Match award as the reigning champions made a strong statement of intent in Group A.

Speaking after the opening day’s fixtures, Mahmud Hadeija, the National Coordinator of the Nigeria Beach Soccer League, expressed delight at the high standard of play and the passion displayed by the teams.

“I’m extremely happy with the quality we witnessed on Day One,” Hadeija said. “The energy, skill, and teamwork on display show how far beach soccer has grown in Nigeria. The matches were competitive and exciting, which is exactly what we want to see at this level.”

He praised the players, coaches, and officials for their commitment, and also appreciated the fans and sponsors for their support of the NBSL project.

“This league continues to set the pace for the development of beach soccer in Africa. What we’ve seen today gives us confidence that the future is bright for Nigerian beach soccer,” he added.

As the NBSL Super Finals continue on Friday, attention now turns to Day Two, where teams will look to strengthen their positions in the race for semifinal spots.

The competition, which features Kebbi Fishers BSC, Anambra Beach Soccer Warriors, Ibom BSC, Kada BSC, Kebbi United BSC, and Jigawa Golden Stars BSC, runs from 6th to 9th November 2025 at Jabi Lake Park, Abuja.
