The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will win the January 16, 2027, presidential election, citing favourable political permutations and the prevailing political situation in the country.
Barau made the prediction at the weekend during the inauguration of campaign committees for Dawakin Tofa, Tofa and Rimin Gado Local Government Areas of Kano State.
He urged members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to unite and intensify grassroots mobilisation to ensure victory for all the party’s candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Ismail Mudashir, the Deputy Senate President said the foundation laid by Tinubu during his first term would produce the desired results in his second term.
He commended party leaders, elected representatives, local government chairmen, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other stakeholders for their support and commitment to the APC, expressing confidence that the party’s unity in Kano would be sustained.
“Based on the assessments of political analysts and the current state of Nigerian politics, all indications suggest that, by Allah’s grace, Bola Ahmed Tinubu will win the presidential election,” he said.
Barau described Kano as a politically strategic state, noting that it ranks second only to Lagos in terms of registered voters and deserves greater attention and development opportunities from the Federal Government.
He said Governor Yusuf’s decision to move from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the APC had strengthened Kano’s political relevance and improved its chances of attracting development projects.
The Deputy Senate President expressed optimism that the alignment of political office holders across the state under the APC would translate into tangible benefits for the people.
He explained that the campaign committees were constituted to include party leaders, serving and former legislators, councillors, local government chairmen, party executives, new members and respected elders.
Barau charged committee members to take their responsibilities seriously by mobilising voters and campaigning effectively for the party.
He called on them to ensure that the APC secured victory in all elective positions, from the presidential election to other contests across the country.
