2027 Election: ADC Lacks Clear Policy Alternatives – Dogara

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, says the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has failed to present clear alternatives to the reforms being implemented by the Federal Government.

This is as he warns that the opposition party may not be taken seriously ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Dogara, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), made the remarks while speaking on National Television.

He said the ADC’s current posture is driven more by anger than by a clear vision for governance.

“I haven’t heard the discussion centering on the people. All I hear is anger about one or two things. What vision or idea are they rallying behind? I have yet to see that,” he said.

According to Dogara, opposition parties must offer credible and better policy alternatives to President Bola Tinubu’s reforms if they hope to gain public trust.

“Until they bring alternatives to what the President is doing and we look at them critically and see they are better than what we have we cannot take them seriously. Otherwise, it is just gimmicks,” he added.

The ADC coalition includes prominent political figures such as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former presidential candidate Peter Obi, former ministers Rotimi Amaechi and Rauf Aregbesola, ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, and former Senate President David Mark.

The party has pledged to unseat the APC, citing rising poverty and economic hardship across the country.

However, Dogara urged Nigerians to be patient with the Tinubu administration, arguing that current challenges, especially in security and the economy, predate the present government.

“There’s nobody with a magical wand that can fix everything overnight,” he said. “But since President Tinubu assumed office, we have seen leadership in areas that were previously neglected.”

Dogara maintained that, despite public frustration, the country is “on the right track” under the current administration.
