Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, says Northern Nigeria will give strong backing to President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

This is as Ganduje dismissed claims that the North would not support Tinubu, describing such views as misguided.

He said the region is prepared to deliver overwhelming support for the president.

The former Kano State governor said that he sees no better candidate from Southern Nigeria to lead the country beyond 2027 than Tinubu, whom he described as a seasoned politician.

Ganduje made the remarks on Friday in Abuja while receiving a delegation of the Northern Nigeria Youth Leaders Forum (NNYLF), representing the 19 northern states.

The group paid him a courtesy visit and decorated him as its patron.

Now Board Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Ganduje said Nigeria is fortunate to have Tinubu as president.

He also revealed that there was a prior understanding, before the election of late President Muhammadu Buhari, that power would return to the South after eight years.

During the visit, the Forum formally decorated Ganduje as the Grand Patron of the Northern Nigeria Youth Leaders Forum.
