2027: Ondo APC Elders Pledge 1.5 Million Votes for Tinubu

The Ondo State All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Movement has pledged to secure over 1.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections.

Chairman of the Movement, Senator Nimbe Farunkanmi, made the declaration on Monday at the group’s meeting in Akure. He explained that the Elders Movement, as a coalition of senior figures within the party, would work to maintain unity and ensure overwhelming support for the president.

“APC Elders Movement was a conglomerate of the elders of the party and would always speak with one voice to ensure there were no crisis and bring unity to all,” Farunkanmi said.

He added that the group would work towards delivering 90 per cent of the total votes in the state to President Tinubu.

Also addressing the gathering, a party leader, Mr Jamiu Ekungba, said the essence of the meeting was to strengthen mobilisation efforts across the state. According to him, the elders are actively driving voter registration in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“You know, in the last election, we tried it and we were able to achieve it because for the governor to win 366,000 votes was unusual,” Ekungba noted.

“So as somebody has said, we are going to deliver 1.5 million votes to Tinubu and it is possible because currently registered voters in the state is 1.9 million.

“The problem is that people don’t come out to vote. So what the elders want to do now is to persuade everybody to come out and vote and we’re going to vote massively for Tinubu in such a way that has never been done,” he said.

Ekungba further stressed that the initiative is not a support group activity but a deliberate movement by party elders to ensure Tinubu’s re-election.

“This type of meeting is going to be held at the local government, it’s going to be held at the wards, and it’s going to be held at the units for the Tinubu’s re-election,” he added.
