China Restricts Exports to 10 US Firms Over Washington’s Blacklist

By Oluwakemi Kindness
China has imposed export restrictions on 10 U.S companies involved in defence and rare earths mining, escalating tensions with Washington over trade and national security issues.

The move comes after the United States added 80 Chinese companies and subsidiaries to a blacklist, alleging links to China’s military.

The list includes major firms such as Alibaba, Baidu and BYD.

In response, China’s Commerce Ministry announced that exporters will no longer be allowed to supply dual-use goods and technologies to the affected US companies, which include Oshkosh Defense, Aveox, MP Materials and USA Rare Earth.

Beijing also barred government agencies from purchasing products from 46 US defence contractors, including Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and Boeing Defense.

Chinese officials said the measures are intended to safeguard national security and protect the country’s interests.

The latest restrictions come despite recent efforts by US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping to ease tensions and strengthen economic cooperation.

Analysts say the dispute highlights ongoing competition between the two countries over technology, defence and Taiwan, a self-governed island that Beijing claims as part of its territory.
