The Minister of the federal capital Territory, Nyesome Wike, on Thursday expressed concerns that the Giri District of Abuja is not developing at par with other districts due to lack of access road and other basic infrastructure.
Wike stated this during the inauguration of the provision of Access road to the new EFCC Academy site in Abuja stressing that the road would open more opportunities to the Giri community and would also be beneficial to EFCC which is in line with the FCT mandate to provide infrastructure.
He added that part of the project would be to light up the areas with solar and streetlight and also open up the Giri areas where the community can farm and also build houses in which EFCC would be beneficiaries
He expressed optimism that “with an access road, everybody will come and develop the area and that is what we are looking for.
“Some of you who own plots here will also benefit from the road when completed.”
The minister thanked President Bola Tinubu for supporting the ongoing infrastructure revolution in the FCT.
He said that the road project would be among projects that would be inaugurated to celebrate Tinubu’s second year anniversary as President in May 2025.
It was reported that the access road in Giri District was the third road project inaugurated in the last three days.
Wike had earlier inaugurated the construction of a 9.8-kilometre road from Kabusa to Takushara on Tuesday, and a 10.5-kilometre road from Kabusa to Ketti on Wednesday
