The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, December 25th, and Thursday, December 26th, 2024, as public holidays to celebrate Christmas and Boxing Day, respectively.

In addition, Wednesday, January 1st, 2025, has also been designated a public holiday to usher in the New Year.

The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr Magdalene Ajani, says the move aims to allow citizens ample time to enjoy the festive season with family and friends while reflecting on the significance of the holidays. This gesture underscores the government’s commitment to fostering unity and relaxation during this joyous period.

Citizens are encouraged to observe the holidays responsibly and to spread cheer, goodwill, and the spirit of the season.
