The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, on Sunday congratulates Senator John Azuta-Mbata on his unanimous election as the new President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
Azuta-Mbata, a former senator representing Rivers East Senatorial Zone, was elected by the General Assembly of the apex socio-cultural organization of Ndigbo in Enugu State on Friday.
Kalu in a statement commends the organization and the South East Governors’ Forum for ensuring a free and fair election.
In the statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Levinus Nwabughiogu, Kalu expresses confidence in Azuta-Mbata’s ability to bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new role, given his background as a former member of the National Assembly.
The Deputy Speaker urges Azuta-Mbata to work assiduously to strengthen unity and faith among the Igbo people, while also building bridges with other socio-cultural groups to maintain peace in the country.
He emphasizes the need for synergy amongst all stakeholders in Ala Igbo to accelerate the development of the area and its people.
He says only collective effort and cooperation can achieve meaningful progress, urging all hands to be on deck.
Kalu pledges his support as a worthy ambassador of the Igbo nation, extending the courtesies of his office to the new President-General and the new executive members of the organization.
