The Federal government has Approved Temporary access road connecting Saburi 1 and 2 to ONEX and the Old Keffi-Dei-Dei International Market

Speaking during the commissioning in Abuja, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike emphasized that the development of rural areas is central to this administration’s vision.

“This project is not just about roads; it’s about creating economic opportunities and improving the quality of life for our people,” Wike said.

Wike also announced plans to commence the construction of the Dei-Dei Market Road within a month, connecting the market to Life Camp.

The project, scheduled for completion by the end of 2025, aims to restore the market’s international prominence while enhancing accessibility and economic activities in the area.

The Minister pledged to construct the Zaudna-Kaba-Kagini Road, as requested by Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Chairman Christopher Maikalangu, to further improve rural-urban connectivity.

Highlighting the administration’s focus on security, Wike revealed plans to establish a police division in Takushara community and promised that each of the six area councils in the FCT will benefit from at least one road project under the 2025 budget.

Renewed Focus on Socioeconomic Development

Wike stressed that the administration’s focus extends beyond road construction. Streetlights along the Dei-Dei Market Road will be repaired as part of the area’s redevelopment.

He added that ongoing infrastructure projects across the FCT are being commissioned to stimulate socioeconomic growth and create a more functional urban-rural ecosystem.

“This administration is determined to restore hope to our rural communities by addressing critical infrastructure needs.

Projects like these are designed to drive economic growth, improve livelihoods, and connect rural areas to the broader city economy,” Wike stated.

Vision for the Future

The Minister reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, underscoring that the government’s efforts are geared toward building an inclusive FCT where all communities—urban and rural—have access to essential infrastructure and opportunities for growth.

Community Leaders and Residents React

AMAC Chairman Maikalangu lauded the projects, stating that they signify a genuine effort to uplift rural communities. “Our people are already benefiting from the smooth road, and your name is etched in the history of this community, noting that residents have affectionately nicknamed the Minister “Wike Abowoweyi,” meaning “Wike, the Magician of Our Time.”

Maikalangu also appealed for the construction of the Karshi-Kutasa Road to ease transportation challenges further, particularly for rural dwellers commuting to the city center.

Residents of Saburi and surrounding communities expressed optimism, that the projects will significantly enhance their quality of life while fostering development in previously neglected areas.
