The Director General, National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS, Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman has described as most unfortunate, callous and inhuman the killing of Hafsat Lawal by so called Alfa Abdulrahman Mohammed Bello in Ilorin.
This is contained in a statement issued by his Media Adviser Mohammad Abdulkadri on Monday, 17th February 2025 and made available to Democracy Radio.
Professor Sulaiman said such a dastard and unacceptable killing of an innocent girl in her prime requires full weight of the law to take its full course not only to bring the perpetrator to book but also to serve as a deterrent to other human killers masquerading in the gabs of men of God.
He said :” crime of inhumanity against humanity that cut short the beautiful dreams for a greater future of the twenty four year old girl who was also a final year student of the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin represents the height of absurdity in a city known for harmony”.
While condoning the family of Hafsat, the community leader however called for collective vigilance to stamp out future occurrence pointing out that the sanity and sanctity of Ilorin as a city of peace and safe haven must be protected by all well meaning stakeholders of the ancient community.
