The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced the distribution of travel materials to intending pilgrims during the second phase of its Hajj education and orientation program.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, February 22, and Sunday, February 23, at the permanent Hajj camp in Bassan Jiwa, near Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The Board’s Public Relations Officer, Muhammad Lawal Aliyu, stated the materials include uniforms, literature, and audio resources, aimed at preparing pilgrims for the spiritual journey.
He emphasized that the resources would enable them to continue learning about Hajj rites, particularly during the Islamic month of Ramadan.
Aliyu further explained that orientation activities would be suspended during Ramadan to allow pilgrims to fully participate in religious observances within their communities.
Preparations for the pilgrimage will resume after the fasting period to ensure all intending pilgrims are well-equipped for the journey to Saudi Arabia.
“The Board is committed to ensuring that pilgrims are adequately trained in Hajj rites, so they get the best value for the money they have invested in this religious obligation,” he said.
The second phase of the orientation will feature Islamic scholars delivering lessons in seven different languages, reflecting the diverse nature of the FCT.
Sessions will commence at 8 a.m. daily, focusing on enlightenment about Hajj rites, as well as updates on new guidelines and policies introduced by the Saudi authorities and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
Aliyu urged intending pilgrims who have not yet submitted their completed application forms or international passports to do so promptly, which will enable the Board to fast-track the processing of travel documents ahead of the airlift to Saudi Arabia.
