Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, arrived in Milan, Italy, on Wednesday to embark on a series of official engagements.

His visit includes a scheduled meeting with Attilio Fontana, President of the Lombardy Region.

According to a statement issued in Milan by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike departed Abuja on Tuesday evening and arrived in Milan at approximately 4:30 AM today.

He was received by the Charge d’Affaires of the Nigerian Embassy in Italy, Ambassador Mustapha Mohammed.

During his stay in Milan, the FCT Minister is scheduled to meet with President Fontana to explore opportunities for collaboration, particularly in the area of agriculture and vocational education.

The discussions will also focus on evaluating potential strategic development partnerships between the FCT and Lombardy.

Lombardy is the leading region in Italy in terms of economic significance, with a population of approximately 10 million people.

It ranks as the second most populous region in the European Union (EU) and holds the same position in nominal Gross Domestic Product (GDP) within the EU.

Additionally, the FCT Minister will meet with agribusiness investors and vocational training experts to explore new opportunities for collaboration.

Accompanying the Minister on this official visit are the FCT Mandate Secretaries for Education, Danlami Hayyo; Agriculture and Rural Development, Lawan Geidam; as well as Senior Special Assistants on Administration, Udo Samuel Atang, and Legal and Multilateral Cooperation, Benedict Daudu.
