The Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Professor Abubakar Olanrewaju Sulaiman, has expressed deep shock over the passing of Dr Doyin Okupe, former Presidential Spokesman to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.

In a statement issued on Friday, March 7, 2025, by his Media Adviser, Mohammad Abdulkadri, Professor Sulaiman describes Dr. Okupe’s death as a significant loss to Nigeria’s media and political landscape.

Reflecting on their time serving under President Jonathan, when Sulaiman was Minister of National Planning, he highlighted Okupe’s unwavering dedication to public service and national development.

He further noted that the late, politician, and media personality would be remembered for his vocal support of the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his contributions to governance through public discourse at both national and international levels.

Professor Sulaiman extended his heartfelt condolences to former President Jonathan, Okupe’s family, friends, and political associates.

He prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul and for strength for his loved ones in this difficult time.
