President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to infrastructure development as a catalyst for national growth and improved welfare of citizens

He made this known while commissioning the newly completed Arterial Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way), which spans from Life Camp Junction to Ring Road 3 in Abuja.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Friday senator George Akume who Represented President Tinubu, described the road as “more than just a road,” noting that it stands as a symbol of “progress, connectivity, and renewed hope” for residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

“This project is a testament to what we can achieve when vision meets action. It reflects our administration’s commitment to delivering modern infrastructure that improves the daily lives of our people,” the President said.

He commended the FCT Administration and all stakeholders involved in the successful execution of the project, urging citizens to use and preserve the new infrastructure responsibly.

In his remarks, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, expressed deep appreciation to President Tinubu for his leadership support and dedication to the FCT’s transformation.

According to him, the project, awarded in September 2024 and flagged off in October of the same year, had reached a significant milestone with the commissioning of its first phase—from Life Camp Junction to Dape District.

Wike disclosed that the second phase of the road, which will extend to Ring Road 3 and eventually link to the airport road, is expected to be completed before the end of 2025.

He added that compensation discussions for affected residents were ongoing, with a firm policy in place to ensure fairness and equity.

“It is not under this administration of President Tinubu that somebody is living in his house and we want to bring this house down, and you say you are not going to pay compensation because he is not an indigene. I said no… all of them who have houses here must be paid—and they were paid,” the Minister stated.

“Anybody who lives in Abuja, anybody who has been coming to Abuja and trying to pass this road, you should appreciate a good thing, regardless of who is in charge of it. A good thing is a good thing,” he remarked.

He further highlighted the landscaping and beautification efforts along the route as visible indicators of the Tinubu administration’s developmental impact in the capital.

Wike extended gratitude to the National Assembly for its continuous support and to residents for their patience during the project’s implementation.
