President Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, commissioned the Kugbo International Bus/Taxi Terminal in Abuja, reiterating his administration’s commitment to revamping Nigeria’s critical infrastructure and public transportation systems.

President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio who represented President Tinubu expressed pride in the project’s completion and emphasized its alignment with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda,

“It is with great pride and a profound sense of gratitude that I commission this landmark project — the Kugbo International bus Taxi Terminal,” the President stated.

“Following our commissioning of the Mabushi Terminal on June 17, 2025, this new facility is yet another example of our dedication to modernizing public mobility and utilities across Nigeria.”

President Tinubu underscored the strategic importance of efficient transport infrastructure, noting that no nation has recorded sustainable development without investing in critical public mobility systems.

“These terminals meet global standards for sustainable urban development and smart mobility, reshaping public transportation in our capital city, long plagued by chaos and inefficiencies,” he said.

He confirmed that his administration had taken decisive action, including directing the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to implement effective countermeasures.

“The Kugbo Terminal, along with Mabushi and upcoming terminals like the one at Eagle Square, will significantly reduce travel time, enhance safety, and spur economic growth through job creation and improved trade,” he noted.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, expressed deep appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for his continued support towards the transformation of Nigeria’s capital city, particularly through the ongoing commissioning of key infrastructure projects.

Wike said this is the 11th project commissioned within 16 days — and lauded President Tinubu’s commitment to Abuja’s development, describing it as “a game-changer for urban transportation and infrastructure renewal.”

“Your Excellency, thank you for honouring my invitation for the 11th day out of 16 days of project commissioning. Your consistent support has changed the face of Abuja and positioned the city to compete with other global capitals,” Wike said.

Wike also extended his gratitude to the National Assembly, acknowledging the critical role lawmakers have played in approving and supporting budgetary allocations that made the projects possible.

“Let me thank the National Assembly. You have not disappointed us. You passed the budget, and it has been fully implemented. You flagged off this same budget in July last year, and today, to the glory of God, you are commissioning the results,” he said.

“Your support has cost me many enemies, but I prefer it that way. With just you alone behind me, I can take on over 20 million enemies,” Wike remarked, drawing applause from the audience.

He also praised the President’s strategic vision, citing the Mabushi Terminal, Kugbo Terminal, and the upcoming Central Business District terminal as examples of tangible progress.

“For too long, Abuja lacked a coordinated transport network. Now, commuters can enter a terminal knowing the driver and the vehicle. That’s what we mean by safety, accountability, and order,” he said.

Looking ahead, the Minister announced plans to construct additional terminals in key satellite towns such as Bwari and Gwagwalada, further decentralizing transportation access and reinforcing the city’s position as a model of urban renewal.
