The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) has extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Nigeria, as well as the family of late President Muhammadu Buhari, following the passing of the former President on July 13 at a London hospital after a brief illness.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Director and Head, Media and Public Relations, NCPC, Celestine Toruka, the Executive Secretary of NCPC, Bishop Stephen Adegbite described the news of the former President’s passing as a rude shock to the nation.
“The passing away of former President Muhammadu Buhari came at a time when his wealth of experience was most needed,” he said.
Bishop Adegbite extolled the sterling qualities of the former President, who served as Military Head of State from December 31, 1983, to August 27, 1985, and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from 2015 to 2023.
“The late Muhammadu Buhari was a detribalized Nigerian, a worthy patriot, and an unassuming leader who contributed significantly to shaping the current political landscape of our democratic experience,” he stated.
The NCPC boss affirmed that former President Buhari would be remembered for his visionary leadership and forthrightness. “He spent his precious time on earth serving Nigeria, and history will never forget his invaluable contributions to the growth of the nation,” Bishop Adegbite added.
The NCPC also extended its condolences to the Chief Mourner, President Bola Tinubu, for the colossal loss. Bishop Adegbite prayed that the Good Lord would grant the immediate family of the late President the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.
