Former Big Brother Naija housemate and media personality, Anita Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has sparked conversations on youth empowerment and civic engagement following her recent remarks about the political landscape in Rivers State.
In a candid interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Tacha expressed deep concern over the underutilized potential in her home state, stating that Rivers is rich in talent and opportunities that have remained largely untapped due to poor governance.
“When I look at other states like Abuja and Lagos, and I see how far they’ve come, and with the potential Rivers State has, they’re not trying to exploit it,” she said. “It’s just very disappointing because there are so many youths, so many talents there—so many things that, if the government can see light into, a lot can happen.”

Tacha, who has built a formidable fan base since her rise to fame on BBNaija, emphasized the importance of youth participation in governance, adding that real change starts with direct involvement in policy and leadership—not just social commentary.
When asked about her own political aspirations, she disclosed that discussions are already in motion, though she’s keeping details under wraps for now.
“It is something I’m working on. I’ll have to make it 70% done before I can talk about it, because it does not make sense granting interviews like this, talking about the government without being involved,” she added.
The 28-year-old entrepreneur also revealed an ambitious side project: an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most makeup applications in 24 hours, with a target of 150 faces.
Tacha’s comments have reignited debates around youth leadership, especially in Nigeria’s evolving political climate, where young people continue to demand accountability, inclusion, and innovation in governance.
