The Indoor Sports Hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, will come alive from August 11 to 19 as it hosts the 2025 National Volleyball League Division 1 & 2 Phase One. Organised by the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF) in partnership with the Office of the Chief of Defence Staff, the competition will feature some of Nigeria’s top volleyball teams alongside a fresh crop of emerging talent in the country’s premier indoor volleyball league.

The event will see elite Division 1 contenders and ambitious Division 2 teams go head-to-head in what promises to be a week of fierce rivalries, tactical duels, and high-energy action.

The build-up begins on Monday with the official technical meeting, where fixtures will be drawn, schedules confirmed, and teams briefed on competition protocols. Once the whistle blows on Tuesday, the chase for early points and crucial momentum will begin, with teams looking to set the pace ahead of the second phase later in the year.

This year’s league opener follows Nigeria’s remarkable performance at the 2025 CAVB U18 Beach Volleyball Continental Championship, which concluded in Abuja last Thursday. The nation’s girls dominated, clinching both gold and silver, while the boys earned a hard-fought bronze. The Gambia took the boys’ gold, but the tournament stood out for its youthful energy, flawless organisation, and electrifying atmosphere — qualities the NVBF aims to replicate in this indoor league edition.

With international success still fresh in the minds of players and fans, the National Volleyball League Phase One promises an unmissable festival of skill, passion, and competition. For athletes, it is a golden opportunity to shine; for supporters, it is a front-row ticket to volleyball at its finest in Nigeria.
