The Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, has reaffirm the Nigeria Customs Service’s commitment to deepening collaboration with agencies under the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).
This is as he describes shared facilities and joint operations as critical to strengthening national security.
According to a statement on Saturday, he stated this on Thursday, when the CDCFIB leadership paid a courtesy visit to the Customs Headquarters in Abuja.
Customs spokesperson, Abdullahi Maiwada quotes Adeniyi as stressing that inter-agency cooperation remains a strategic pillar in tackling emerging security and economic challenges.
He cited practical examples of this partnership, noting that Customs facilities across the country are being used to support Immigration and Correctional Services.
“In Ibadan, we have a five-storey building where two floors are dedicated to Immigration and a Correctional Service detachment. In Kano, our facilities support Immigration recruitment exercises, while in Bauchi, a wing is set aside for our colleagues. These prove that our bond remains strong and will continue,” the CGC said.
Earlier, the CDCFIB Secretary, Major General AbdulMalik Jibril (rtd), commends Adeniyi for his contributions to economic and security development and pledged the Board’s readiness to consolidate cooperation in training, recruitment, and operational support.
“As Secretary to the Board of these four services, I consider it necessary to rekindle our relationship and strengthen synergy. This visit seeks to reinforce cooperation for national security,” Jibril said.
