Former Ogun State Governor and Senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel, has dismissed speculation linking him to a return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), insisting that he remains committed to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The clarification follows days of intense political speculation after the Ogun State chapter of the APC suspended Daniel and Mr. Kunle Folarin over alleged anti-party activities.https://democracyradio.ng/ogun-apc-suspends-gbenga-daniel-kunle-folarin-over-anti-party-allegations/ The move had triggered rumours of an imminent defection by the former governor.
In a statement issued on Monday through the OGD Media Office, Daniel described reports of his planned defection as baseless.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Gbenga Daniel is and remains a member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, a Senator and remains on the platform of the APC,” the statement read.
Daniel stressed that despite the controversy surrounding his suspension, he has no plans to dump the ruling party, reaffirming his allegiance to the APC platform.
