The Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Professor Abubakar Sulaiman, has commended Dr. Adam Hussein Abdullahi, a Nigerian medical researcher, for emerging as a global winner of the prestigious Collaborative Initiative for Paediatric HIV Education and Research (CIPHER) Grant.

In a statement signed by his media aide, Mohammad Abdulkadri, Prof. Sulaiman described Dr. Abdullahi’s achievement as a landmark feat that has placed Nigeria, Kwara State, and his Lafiagi community on the global map of excellence in medical science and scholarship.

Dr. Abdullahi, a University of Cambridge-based scientist, secured the highly competitive grant worth $150,000, awarded to only four researchers worldwide from a pool of over 1,000 applicants. The CIPHER Grant supports groundbreaking research in paediatric HIV, advancing solutions to one of the world’s most pressing public health challenges.

Prof. Sulaiman hailed the award as an “enviable benchmark” that sets a new standard for Nigerian researchers, urging others to emulate Abdullahi’s commitment to innovation and excellence.

He further noted that the recognition is not only a personal triumph but also a source of pride for the Lafiagi community. Dr. Abdullahi is the son of Dr. Abdullahi Amanah, National President of the Lafiagi Descendants Development Union (LADDU).

“The success attained by Dr. Abdullahi is a clear demonstration that with resilience, brilliance, and dedication, Nigerian scholars can stand tall among the best in the world. He is truly a world-beater,” Professor Sulaiman said.
