Nigeria’s Super Eagles are stepping up preparations for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches against Rwanda and South Africa, with 13 players now in camp.
Team officials confirmed that the squad gained momentum on Tuesday following the arrival of nine players, including Premier League duo Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey, as well as Moses Simon, Ola Aina, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru. They joined the four players—William Troost-Ekong, Raphael Onyedika, Felix Agu, and Amas Obasogie—who had reported earlier on Monday.
According to team media officer Promise Efoghe, 10 more players are still expected to join the camp in Ikot Ekpene within the next 24 hours.
“The camp is beginning to take shape. With 13 players already here, we anticipate a full house by tomorrow as preparations intensify,” Efoghe told the News Agency of Nigeria.
The team is also expected to engage with the media later in the week, in line with the Nigeria Football Federation’s communication strategy ahead of the double-header fixtures.
Nigeria will face Rwanda before returning home to lock horns with South Africa, in matches seen as pivotal to the Super Eagles’ qualification hopes.
