Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has approved the appointment of Mr. Orok Okon as the new Head of the State Civil Service.

Okon’s appointment, effective September 19, 2025, follows the retirement of Dr. Innocent Eteng, who has served in the position since September 2023.

In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Linus Obogo, Governor Otu commended Dr. Eteng for his decades of meritorious service, describing his career as “a beacon of excellence and commitment.”

The governor urged the new Head of Service to uphold the values of professionalism, integrity, and reform-driven leadership in his new role.

“The new Head of Service is expected to foster efficiency, professionalism, and accountability across the public service. This appointment underscores the administration’s steadfast resolve to strengthen the machinery of governance for optimal service delivery to the people of Cross River State,” the statement read.

Governor Otu reiterated his administration’s commitment to competent leadership across all state institutions, adding that Okon’s appointment is part of ongoing reforms to enhance governance and service delivery.
