The Nigeria Police Force has called on motorists across the country to begin registering for tinted glass permits before nationwide enforcement begins on October 2, 2025.

The directive was announced by the Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Command, SP Shi’isu Adam, in a statement issued on Saturday in Dutse, the state capital. He stressed that early registration would not only ease the process for applicants but also protect them from legal consequences.

According to him, the application process is ongoing through the official portal, possap.gov.ng, where motorists can create an account using their NIN, BVN, or TIN, verify their details, and log in to select the Tinted Glass Permit service. Applicants must then upload their vehicle information and supporting documents.

“Applicants must carefully confirm all details before submitting their requests and making payments as directed on the portal,” SP Adam said, noting that accuracy was crucial for faster processing.

Once applications are completed, inspections and biometric capturing will be scheduled at designated Police Intelligence Departments. Adam further disclosed that for Jigawa residents, biometric capturing would be conducted free of charge at the State Intelligence Department, Police Headquarters, Dutse.

He reminded motorists that compliance with the permit directive was essential in safeguarding them legally and curbing the abuse of illegal tinted windows.

“Those planning to apply are advised to begin registration promptly ahead of the enforcement date,” the statement added, assuring the public of regular updates to build trust and encourage responsible compliance.
