The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has commissioned 59 Armoured Toyota Hilux vehicles in Abuja, warning that the Force will be judged by results rather than promises.

Egbetokun said the vehicles are frontline assets designed to give tactical units speed, protection and dominance in high-risk operations.

He ordered immediate nationwide deployment and stressed that accountability would be total, with the fleet expected to deliver quicker response times and improved public safety.

The police chief added that the initiative aligns with ongoing reforms and warned criminals that the Force now has the tools and determination to neutralise threats.

Also speaking, Senator Karimi of Kogi West described the commissioning as a milestone in strengthening the fight against insurgents and criminal gangs.

He noted the vehicles will play a critical role in protecting officers deployed to high-risk areas, where security forces have suffered repeated ambushes in recent months.
