The Director General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Professor Abubakar Sulaiman, has called on lawmakers to adopt adaptive strategies in response to Nigeria’s rapidly changing socio-political and economic realities.

Professor Sulaiman made the call on Tuesday while declaring open a three-day capacity-building workshop for principal officers, members, and management staff of the Plateau State House of Assembly.

In a statement made available to newsmen by his media aide, Muhammad Abdulkadri, he explained that the training, themed Legislative Practice, Process and Procedures, is designed to sharpen participants’ skills on key aspects of lawmaking, oversight functions, and budget scrutiny.

The NILDS DG, who is also a former Minister of National Planning, emphasized that the workshop was a strategic investment aimed at strengthening the legislature’s institutional capacity and enhancing legislative-executive relations to ensure effective delivery of constitutional mandates.

The programme, he noted, aligns with NILDS’ commitment to building a more responsive, knowledgeable, and accountable legislature across the country
