NYCN Protests Deregistration, Calls for Sack of CAC Registrar General

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Thursday launched a nationwide protests after the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) withdrew its registration certificate.

NYCN President, Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo, accused CAC Registrar General, Hussaini Magaji, of abuse of office and disregard for the rule of law.

He said the move defied a Federal High Court ruling that restrained the Commission from delisting the council, with the case still pending at the Court of Appeal.

Over 3,000 youths stormed CAC headquarters in Abuja, vowing to sustain peaceful protests for 30 days.

They alleged Magaji acted without legal backing, accepted bribes, and made key appointments in the Commission without due process.

A closed-door meeting between CAC and NYCN ended in a deadlock.

Acting Registrar General, Julius Anga, confirmed the council had been delisted after internal investigations and said its suspension would last for one year.

But NYCN insists the decision is unlawful and politically motivated, warning that it undermines the judiciary and threatens national security.

They are calling on President Bola Tinubu to sack Magaji and for urgent federal intervention to restore the council’s legitimacy.
