The Ministry of Police Affairs has launched the Galaxy Backbone Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform, marking a major step in its digital transformation and transition from traditional paperwork to a secure, streamlined digital environment.

The ECM is designed to enhance governance, transparency and operational efficiency by replacing manual processes with digital workflows.

The platform integrates key tools including Gov CMS for workflow management, Gov Email for official correspondence, Gov Conference for meetings and Gov Drive for file storage.iij

The initiative aligns with the Head of Service’s vision to digitise the entire federal civil service by December 31, 2025.

The launch was described as a significant milestone, with emphasis on sustained cooperation and training to ensure full utilisation of the system.

Speaking at the event, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Dr Ogbonnaya Anuma-Nlia, said the ECM represents a critical step in the ministry’s journey toward digital transformation, improved governance and stronger institutional efficiency.

“This is not merely articulating technological tools but the beginning of a new culture, one engineered by accountability, transparency, institutional memory and operational excellence,” he said

He highlighted the platform’s capacity to manage official records, track workflow processes, safeguard sensitive documents and improve service delivery across departments..

He also commended Galaxy Backbone for its technical partnership, continuous support and commitment to seamless deployment

Dr Nlia urged staff to fully embrace the platform, assuring them of ongoing capacity building and user support. “The world we live in is driven by information technology and speed. Technology only delivers its full value when fully utilised,” he added

Also speaking, the Group Head, Research and Digital Development at Galaxy Backbone, Akintayo Bamidele, said the ministry and the department were making history with the shift

He described the ECM deployment as a significant change in how government operations are conducted and how public services are delivered.

The ECM deployment remains a work in progress across federal ministries, as efforts continue to ensure a smooth transition to fully digitised work processes.
