The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, has distributed five trailers of rice to churches across the Kaduna North Senatorial District to support Christian communities ahead of the Christmas celebration.
The distribution, which benefitted over 1,000 churches, covered the eight local government areas that make up Kaduna North Senatorial District, also known as Zone One.
These include Zaria, Sabon Gari, Makarfi, Kudan, Ikara, Kubau, Soba, and Lere.
In a statement by his Special Adviser, Musa Kirshi, a total of 3,165 bags of 50-kilogramme rice were distributed through the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in each of the local government areas.
The exercise took place between Sunday, December 21, and Monday, December 22, at the Speaker’s Constituency Office in the Dan-Magaji area of Zaria.
Speaking during the distribution, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Speaker on Administration, Iliyasu Muhammad Balarabe, said the intervention was aimed at easing the burden on Christian families as they prepare for Christmas.
He explained that beneficiaries were carefully selected, adding that the gesture reflects the Speaker’s commitment to providing relief and promoting peaceful coexistence among the people of the Senatorial District.
