President Bola Tinubu has urged Nigerians to embrace peace, tolerance and unity as Christians celebrate Christmas, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to religious freedom and national security.

In his 2025 Christmas message issued on Wednesday, the President said the season goes beyond festivities and offers an opportunity to reflect on the birth of Jesus Christ and His message of salvation, grace and peace as the Prince of Peace.

Tinubu congratulated Christians in Nigeria and across the world on the celebration, while offering prayers for peace in the country, especially among people of different religious beliefs.

He thanked God for the opportunity to serve as President and pledged to continue protecting Nigerians of all faiths from violence and discrimination.

The President acknowledged the significant contributions of Christians to Nigeria’s development, noting that the teachings of Christ and the Gospel have inspired many to care for the vulnerable and promote peace, harmony and tolerance in their communities.

He described Christmas as a reminder of hope and faith, even in the face of daunting national challenges.

Reiterating his stance since assuming office in 2023, Tinubu assured Nigerians of his unyielding commitment to safeguarding the security, unity and stability of the nation in line with the Constitution.

He stressed that all citizens have the right to live, worship and pursue their aspirations in safety and dignity, regardless of ethnicity or belief.

The President also disclosed ongoing engagements with leaders of the country’s major faiths to address concerns over religious intolerance and insecurity, adding that such dialogue would be strengthened to promote peaceful coexistence.

He advised Nigerians travelling during the festive period to exercise patience and discipline on the roads, wishing them safe journeys and returns, and expressed confidence in Nigeria’s collective strength to build a greater nation.
