Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has called on Igbo voters to be strategic in their political choices, stressing that votes in 2027 should “be invested, not wasted.”
Speaking during a series of courtesy visits to APC leaders across Abia State, Kalu said the shortest route to an Igbo presidency lies in supporting the South West and building strong political alliances.
“If you carry your vote and dump it where it does not count toward success, you have wasted your opportunity to go to the negotiation table and ask for what you have invested in,” he warned.
According to a statement on Monday by his SA on Press Affairs, Udora Orizu, said
He urged the South East to stay united, stressing: “As it is today, in the political calculation, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is where we will invest our votes and it will count. Let’s keep sentiments aside, let’s forget emotions.
The southern political corridor must stay united, it must be consolidated.” he said
Kalu also presented his two-year scorecard to elder statesmen and party leaders, inviting honest assessment of his performance.
“I believe leadership must be subjected to scrutiny. I presented my two-year scorecard and asked them to honestly assess what I have done so far, so I can do better,” he said.
The Deputy Speaker further urged stakeholders to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections, declaring: “The era of merely negotiating for 25 percent votes for the President in Abia State is over. The APC in the state now has the structure, momentum and political capital to deliver outright victory.”
