The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetokun, has ordered the deployment of the newly promoted Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Usaini Gumel, and 17 Commissioners of Police to strategic departments, commands, and formations across the country.

The deployments, according to the Force Headquarters, are aimed at strengthening operational capacity, enhancing leadership effectiveness, improving public safety, and boosting service delivery within the Nigeria Police Force.

Under the directive, DIG Gumel has been deployed to head the Force Intelligence Department (FID).

At the state level, CP Aina Adesola was posted to Delta State, CP Umar Mohammed Hajedia to Kebbi State, while CP Iyamah Daniel Edobor takes charge of the Bayelsa State Police Command.

A statement on Tuesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, says several senior officers were also assigned to specialised units and formations.

They include Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, Special Enquiries Bureau, Marine Unit, Community Policing, X-Squad, Railway Command, Maritime Command, Safer Highway, and key departments at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

In addition, postings were made to training institutions, with appointments to the Police Colleges in Kaduna and Ikeja, as well as the Police Staff College, Jos, to strengthen capacity building and professional development.

The IGP charged the deployed officers to provide purposeful and result-oriented leadership, uphold professionalism and integrity, maintain ethical conduct, and ensure strict adherence to the rule of law.
