FCTA Approves Five Memos on Infrastructure, Services

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has approved five key memoranda aimed at sustaining infrastructure development and improving service delivery in Abuja.

The approval came at the first Executive Council (EXCO) meeting of 2026, chaired by the FCT Minister.

Education Approval

Briefing journalists after the meeting on Wednesday, the Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, announced the approval of a ₦62 million contract for facility management services at the Korea Model School.

The high-tech school, established through a partnership between the Korean Government and the Universal Basic Education Commission, has been under FCTA management since 2019 and is designed to serve as a model for basic education in the territory.

Infrastructure and Works

The Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr shehu Ahmad, disclosed that three emergency infrastructure projects were ratified.

They include the rehabilitation of internal roads within the Presidential Villa, the construction of the Kabusa–Ketti Road—completed and commissioned in June 2025—and emergency erosion control works on major water transmission pipelines from the Lower Usuma Dam, aimed at preventing disruption of water supply to the city.

Land Administration and Revenue

The Director of Lands Administration, Chijioke Nwankwoeze  announced that the EXCO approved enforcement actions against property owners in default of ground rent payments, certificate of occupancy fees, and land-use conversion charges.

He said enforcement, including revocation of titles and sealing of properties, will begin next week, particularly in areas where residential properties were illegally converted to commercial use.

Internal Revenue

The Chairman of the FCT Internal Revenue Service, Micheal Ango, reiterated the administration’s resolve to generate adequate revenue to fund infrastructure and social services.

He urged residents to comply with all statutory payments, warning that the FCTA would enforce compliance where necessary to ensure Abuja remains a functional and world-class capital city.
