The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has kicked off 2026 with a clear mission: dismantle drug cartels and intensify nationwide sensitization against substance abuse.

Chairman NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), outlined the Agency’s operational priorities during a strategic meeting with top directors, commanders, and unit heads at the NDLEA National Headquarters in Abuja.
Marwa emphasized that this year would focus on Drug Supply Reduction (DSR) and Drug Demand Reduction (DDR), warning that there will be no compromise in operations targeting drug kingpins.
“2026 is a year of consolidation. We are here to completely disrupt the financial lifelines of drug cartels and ensure every community is sensitized against substance abuse,” Marwa declared.
He directed commanders to maintain professional discipline, thorough surveillance, and request reinforcements where operational capacity is limited.
The NDLEA boss also called for strengthened State Drug Control Committees down to local government and ward levels, underscoring that the fight against drugs is a collective responsibility involving every Nigerian.
Marwa reassured the public that the Agency will remain vigilant and proactive, signaling to criminal networks that there will be no breathing space for illicit drug trade in 2026.
