The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) has announced the departure of Senior Men’s National Team Head Coach, Steve Tikolo, following a mutual agreement between both parties.

Tikolo, a High-Performance Manager exits the role after nearly 40 months at the helm, closing a chapter widely regarded as one of growth and renewed ambition for Nigerian cricket.

During his three-year tenure, Tikolo played a pivotal role in strengthening team structure, player development, and professional standards within the squad.
His leadership fostered a culture of discipline, teamwork, and dedication, laying a solid foundation for long-term progress.

On the performance front, Nigeria recorded a notable rise in the ICC Men’s T20 rankings, moving from 42nd to 37th position.

The team also emerged as a dominant force in West African cricket while becoming increasingly competitive against higher-ranked East African nations.

Reacting to the development, NCF President, Dr. Uyi Akpata, praised Tikolo’s impact on and off the field.

“The Board and Management of NCF extend their sincere appreciation to Steve for his unwavering commitment over the past three years.

His on-field results have been outstanding, but even more significant is the culture of discipline, hard work, passion, and dedication he has instilled, which will leave a lasting legacy,” Akpata said.

Steve Tikolo also expressed gratitude for his time with Nigerian cricket.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked with the Nigeria Cricket Federation and for the support from the players, staff, and management. I leave with positive memories and great optimism that the team will continue to improve,” he stated.

The NCF wished Tikolo success in his future endeavours and confirmed that details regarding the appointment of a new Head Coach and High-Performance Manager will be communicated in due course.
