Abba Abubakar, son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has officially registered as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa State.
Abubakar completed his registration on Monday at Gwadabawa Ward, Yola North Local Government Area. He was received by party leaders and supporters, whom he thanked for their warm welcome.

Speaking after the registration, Abubakar expressed gratitude to APC stakeholders across the state, describing the show of support as encouraging.

“All you can see is that these people have come out to support me, and I am very thankful,” he said.

He acknowledged party leaders at different levels, including members of the state executive, women and youth leaders, and the ward chairman. He also pledged commitment to the party and optimism about his political future.

“I want to thank the people of Adamawa. I am proud of you. I am a son to you. By the grace of God, this journey we are on will go very far,” he added.

His temporary APC membership slip confirms his registration details in Adamawa State, Yola North Local Government Area, and Gwadabawa Ward.

Reacting earlier, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar described his son’s decision as a personal choice guided by individual conscience. He noted that differing political affiliations within families are common in a democratic society.

The development comes months after Atiku Abubakar formally left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the platform on which he contested the presidency several times. He later joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and is currently working with an ADC-led coalition to build support ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
