The House of Representatives has constituted a bipartisan Conference Committee on the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill, in line with parliamentary procedure for reconciling differences between versions passed by both Chambers of the National Assembly.

The development was conveyed through an internal correspondence issued on Wednesday by the Clerk of the House, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, Esq., following directives from the House Leadership.

In a statement on Thursday, the House Spokesperson, Akin Rotimi Jnr, disclosed the composition of the Conference Committee as follows:

• Rep. Adebayo Balogun – Chairman

• Rep. Fred Agbedi

• Rep. Sada Soli

• Rep. Ahmadu Jaha

• Rep. Iduma Igariwey Enwo

• Rep. Saidu Musa Abdullahi

• Rep. Dr. Zainab Gimba

The Committee has been mandated to meet with its Senate counterpart to harmonise all differing provisions in the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill ahead of its final passage by the National Assembly.

The House reaffirmed its commitment to driving electoral reforms that promote transparency, credibility, and public confidence in Nigeria’s democratic process.
