Police Commissioner Launches Weapon and Riot Control Training for FCT Officers Democracy Radio

The Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD), in collaboration with the NEAR Foundation, has announced plans to distribute food items to 300 disaster-affected and vulnerable households across the FCT as part of its Ramadan outreach.
Under the initiative, each selected household will receive food packages weighing 11 kilograms, aimed at easing the burden on the poor during the fasting period. The intervention targets families made vulnerable by disasters in the territory.
The Director of the NEAR Foundation, Abdul Hakem Salaudeen, disclosed this during a courtesy visit to FEMD. He said the Ramadan outreach reflects the foundation’s commitment to empathy and social responsibility, particularly toward the poor.
According to him, beyond the 300 households supported in partnership with FEMD, over 4,000 other vulnerable groups across the FCT will also benefit from the foundation’s Ramadan outreach programme.
“The outreach is meant to show empathy to the poor and ensure that they have meals during Ramadan. It is also our tradition at the NEAR Foundation to visit our stakeholders to explore how we can strengthen partnerships based on shared values and programmes,” Salaudeen said.
Responding, the Acting Director-General of FEMD, Engr. Abdulrahman Mohammed, reaffirmed the department’s commitment to sustained collaboration with the NEAR Foundation in humanitarian interventions across the FCT.
He also called on public-spirited Nigerians to emulate the NEAR Foundation by supporting the less privileged, especially during periods of economic hardship.
The initiative forms part of broader efforts to provide relief and promote social solidarity during the holy month of Ramadan.
