Reality TV star Tope Adenibuyan, popularly known as Teddy A, has spoken about the emotional and reputational damage caused by false allegations that he abused his wife, actress Bamike “Bambam”.
Speaking on a Podcast interview, Teddy A said the claims, which circulated widely on social media, accused him of physically abusing his wife, including during her pregnancy.
He described the allegations as shocking and completely untrue.
According to him, the report surfaced while he was at home with his pregnant wife, who was relaxed and watching a movie.
He said he only became aware of the situation after his phone began receiving numerous notifications.
“I woke up, went downstairs, my wife was there watching a movie, pregnant and laughing. Then I checked my phone and saw my notifications going off,” he said.
Teddy A explained that as he read through the comments online, his wife became emotional and repeatedly asked who could have started such a story.
He said neither of them understood the source of the allegation.
The reality star revealed that he initially contacted his manager, who advised him to remain silent and allow the issue to fade.
However, he later realised that staying quiet had long-term consequences.
He said the allegations continue to resurface online, with some social media users still questioning his character whenever he and his wife post content together.
“Even when my wife and I post ourselves, people still ask if I’m sure I don’t beat my wife. It affected me because it made people see me in a way that wasn’t true,” he said.
Teddy A added that the experience taught him how damaging false information can be, especially when left unchallenged, as it can shape public perception for years.
