The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has announced a restriction of movement across the FCT from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM on Saturday, February 21, 2026, as part of security measures for the 2026 Area Council Elections.

The restriction, which exempts essential service providers and accredited election officials, forms part of a broader security plan involving a massive deployment of personnel across the territory.

According to the FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, thousands of operatives from the Police, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, Nigerian Navy, Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have been mobilised to ensure a peaceful, free, and fair election.

A statement on Wednesday by Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer, says Dantawaye directed officers to maintain professionalism, remain vigilant and impartial, and provide full security coverage at polling units and collation centres.

Residents are urged to comply with the restriction, cooperate with security personnel, and exercise their civic responsibility peacefully.

The Command assured that adequate security arrangements have been put in place.

The public is encouraged to report suspicious activities via the emergency numbers 08032003913 and 08061581938.
