Troops of the Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have arrested two suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in Yobe State and recovered a large consignment of motorcycle spare parts allegedly destined for Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters operating along the Yunusari-Mobbar axis.
The suspects were arrested on Tuesday following credible intelligence on the movement of suspected terrorist supplies. Troops of the 159 Battalion, Sector 2 OPHK, in collaboration with other security agencies, launched a fighting pat orrol and intercepted the consignment at Gumsa Bridge in Geidam Local Government Area.
Among the items recovered were motorcycle tyres, crankshafts, oil seals, traffic indicators, acceleration and clutch cables, bearings, brake components, gaskets, piston kits, chains and sprockets. Other items included speedometers, clutch plates, rocker arms, CDI units, coils, rectifiers, fuel-related components and other motorcycle spare parts.
The troops also recovered 145 pairs of footwear and two Tecno Android phones, among other items.
The suspects and recovered items have since been handed over to the 27 Military Intelligence Regiment for further investigation.
The Joint Task Force said the operation would help disrupt terrorist logistics networks and deny insurgents access to supplies needed to sustain their activities.
It urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
