NSCDC Arrests Three Over Alleged Vandalism in Anambra

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Anambra State Command, has arrested three suspects over the alleged vandalism and theft of government property at the Onitsha South Local Government Area premises.

The suspects were arrested on Monday evening by NSCDC operatives working with the Agunaechemba Security Outfit while allegedly vandalising government infrastructure at the council premises.

The Head of Media and Tactical Operations of the command, SC Edwin Okadigbo, disclosed this to journalists on Tuesday while reviewing the command’s operational achievements for the week.

Okadigbo identified the suspects as Oseloka Anyaorah of Onitsha Umuasi, who claimed to be the Chairman of Ogbo Family, alongside John Nwobodo and Ifeanyi Nwancho, who reportedly claimed to be Anyaorah’s workers at the site.

Items recovered from the suspects included a government signpost, zinc sheets, nails and other building materials.

According to Okadigbo, preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects allegedly conspired to damage and remove parts of government infrastructure belonging to the Onitsha South Local Government Area.

He said the recovered items had been secured in the custody of the Corps as investigations continued.

The NSCDC State Commandant, Olatunde Maku, condemned the alleged vandalism, describing the destruction of public property as economic sabotage against the government and people of Anambra State.

Maku reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to protecting critical national assets and infrastructure, directing that the suspects be properly profiled and charged to court after investigations are concluded.

He also urged traditional rulers, town union leaders and residents to provide timely information to security agencies to help prevent further vandalism of government facilities across the state.
