The Nigeria Customs Service says informal engagements among officers of different government agencies can strengthen inter-agency collaboration.
The National Public Relations Officer of the Service, Abdullahi Maiwada, stated this on Sunday at an officers’ night-out talent competition featuring 47 officers from the Customs Service, Nigeria Police force, Army, Navy, Fire Service, EFCC, NDLEA and other security agencies.
Maiwada said the event was designed to promote work-life balance by allowing officers to relax, showcase their talents and interact outside their official responsibilities.
He noted that stronger relationships built through informal engagements could improve cooperation among agencies in carrying out their statutory duties.
The Customs spokesperson also said the second edition of the competition was an improvement on the previous one, with contestants showing greater competitiveness and organisers securing better prizes.
He disclosed that Innocent Motors provided two vehicles for this year’s competition, compared with one electric vehicle at the previous edition.
Maiwada described the contest as a healthy competition, adding that although one contestant would emerge as the overall winner, all participants stood to benefit through improved talent, experience and unity.
