Highlights from the 2023 International Conference on Women in Governance

Highlights from the 2023 International Conference on Women in Governance. With the theme “Women Representation in Governance in Nigeria: Issues, Challenges, and Path Forward”, the two-day event organized by the National Institute of Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), aimed at fostering empowerment among women and shaping the governance landscape in Nigeria.

Distinguished attendees included the President of the Senate, Dist. Sen. Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, and the Director General of NILDS, Prof. Abubakar O. Sulaiman. Delivering the keynote address was Erelu Bisi Fayemi, former First Lady of Ekiti State and President of the African Women Development Fund and the conference also saw participation of women politicians, female parliamentarians from Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, and Uganda, as well as Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and other vital stakeholders.
