The Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam and Directors in the Ministry have signed a performance bond for the smooth implementation of assigned tasks in line with Priority 2 of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The official signing ceremony for the performance bond was performed with the Permanent Secretary, James Sule who represented the Minister at the Headquarters of the Ministry in Abuja.
The Minister said it is an important occasion to sign the Performance Contract Agreement by Directors to formalize their commitment to excellence, accountability, and result-driven management as well as improve the quality of lives of citizens and set Nigeria on the path of sustainable development”.
In his words, “It is pertinent for all to know that Nigerian citizens rely on us to execute policies, programmes, and projects and deliver services that enhance their well-being, and planned development that would significantly contribute to Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Therefore, “as custodians of public trust, we must be transparent and accountable in-service delivery to Nigerian citizens to promote sustainable development”.
According to the Deputy Director, Bolaji O. Kazeem Gaidam pointed out that the Priority Areas were disaggregated into Ministerial Deliverables and signed by all Honourable Ministers and Permanent Secretaries as Performance Bonds with the President in October 2023.
The Minister noted that the Performance Contract is not just about meeting targets but it also outlines specific performance objectives and standards to be achieved within a specified timeframe to promote excellence in the Public Service.
He added that directors are expected to oversee the Performance Delivery process within your various Departments to Strengthening National Security for Peace & Prosperity noting that the process is dynamic as it promotes lesson learning, regular review and feedback mechanisms as well as provides opportunities to address performance gaps and challenges. The Minister stressed”.
Gaidam reiterated that the Ministerial Mandate is a key component of Government policy thrust that showcases the performances of all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) on implementation of the Eight Priority Areas of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In her welcome address, the Director of Planning Research and Statistics, Azeez Margaret stated that the contract is not just a document but a promise to uphold our standards, exceed expectations, and stay accountable for delivering results that will move the organization forward.
In her words, “Performance management, when executed effectively, serves not only as a tool for assessing our strengths and areas of improvement but also as a roadmap for growth, innovation, ande excellence”.
