The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to advancing rural development and governance as part of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda. Speaking during the inauguration of the Kabusa-Takushara road construction project in Abuja on Tuesday, Wike emphasized the administration’s focus on transforming satellite towns into vibrant urban centers.

“One of the promises Tinubu made is that people in satellite towns should not feel neglected. Governance is not just about the cities; satellite towns will also be transformed into cities,” Wike said.

Improved Infrastructure for Satellite Towns
The Kabusa-Takushara road project is part of a larger initiative to extend governance and development to underserved areas of the FCT. Wike assured residents that the project, which includes the installation of streetlights for safety and convenience, would be completed within six to seven months.

“For the first time, roads in rural areas are being constructed and fitted with streetlights. This is unprecedented, and I assure you that the government of President Tinubu will not fail you,” the minister stated.

Fulfilling the Renewed Hope Agenda
Wike noted that the road construction project symbolizes the essence of the Renewed Hope Agenda—restoring faith in governance and delivering tangible benefits to citizens. “What we are doing today is what the Renewed Hope Agenda is all about: giving hope back to our people,” he added.

He commended the residents of Kabusa for their trust in the administration and confirmed that adequate funding has been allocated to ensure the timely completion of the project.

Enhancing Quality of Life
The minister highlighted that the addition of streetlights along the Kabusa-Takushara road would enhance the quality of life for residents, making the area more secure and livable. “This development will bring a level of comfort to the rural communities, similar to what is experienced in the city,” Wike explained.

A Milestone in Rural Governance
Wike described the initiative as a groundbreaking step in prioritizing the needs of rural communities, a hallmark of Tinubu’s administration. “This is not just about flagging off road projects; it is about delivering on promises. By the time we commission this road, it will demonstrate the government’s commitment to grassroots development,” he said.

Residents of Kabusa expressed gratitude for the project, describing it as a significant milestone in improving infrastructure and governance at the grassroots level. The project aligns with the Tinubu administration’s broader goal of equitable development across Nigeria.
