No fewer than 100 residents of Kpaduma II community, Guzape, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have benefitted from a free medical outreach organized by NILDS Democracy Radio in collaboration with Skipper EyeQ and LIMI Hospital.
The General Manager of Democracy Radio, Mrs. Uju Nwachukwu, said the initiative was aimed at providing essential health services to vulnerable women and children who lack access to regular medical care. “The outreach included free eye checks, blood pressure monitoring, distribution of clothing materials, and health education”.
“Owing to the current economic challenges, we decided to provide medical interventions for the less privileged. The focus today is on maternal and child health, routine BP checks, eye care, and general well-being,” Nwachukwu stated.
Highlighting the importance of preventive care, Nwachukwu explained that the outreach also focuses on educating participants on healthy living practices.
Delivering a Health Talk at the forum, Dr. Omengala David Medical Officer and Personal Physician at LIMI Hospital, emphasized the need for such interventions in rural areas. “We recognize that many people in underserved communities cannot access basic medical services. Today, we’re providing free screenings, BP check and referrals where necessary,” He said.

As a teacher who stands for long hours daily, I often experience sharp pains in my legs and muscles. This outreach has been helpful, and I now have guidance on how to manage my health better.”
Highlight of the outreach was the distribution of clothing materials, shoes and so many other items to cushion the suffering of the residents’.
The outreach is part of Democracy Radio’s broader commitment to promoting maternal and child health through impactful community interventions
