Nigeria’s largest carrier, Air Peace, has announced the creation of 1,000 fresh graduate jobs through its 2025/2026 Graduate Trainee Programme, positioning the move as a direct response to the Federal Government’s suspension of the 4% Free on Board (FOB) levy on imports.
Chairman of Air Peace, Dr. Allen Ifechukwu Onyema, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, for what he described as a timely and decisive intervention to protect businesses and jobs.
Onyema noted that the suspension marked a turning point for the aviation industry.
“Just as the government has acted to protect jobs and support businesses, Air Peace is reciprocating this kind gesture by creating 1,000 fresh graduate jobs. If further supportive measures like this come from the Federal Government, I can assure you that thousands more jobs will be created in the aviation sector,” he stated.
He described the suspension as a “lifeline” for aviation, explaining that the levy would have imposed severe pressures capable of crippling airlines and triggering mass job losses.
The newly launched Graduate Trainee Programme is designed to equip young Nigerians with industry skills, mentorship, and practical exposure to thrive in aviation and related fields. It also serves as a pipeline to build a workforce that can sustain long-term sectoral growth.
