The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, NCPC Bishop Stephen Adegbite and members of Board of the Commission, have appealed to security agencies to ensure that they apprehend perpetrators of recent attacks in communities in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau state.
Reports say the attack carried out by unidentified gunmen on April 2 led to the death of over fifty persons during coordinated attacks across several communities, including Mangor Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai all in Bokkos LGA.
The NCPC boss in a statement released on Sunday, and signed by Celestine Toruka, Head Media and Public Relations NCPC, says he was saddened by the development at a time when all hands are on deck to make sure that peace reigns in communities across the country.
The Executive Secretary and the Board also commiserated with the Chairman of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission, Right Reverend Prof Cletus Gotan, who is an illustrious son of the state for the heinous crime against humanity, describing the action of the unknown gunmen in the predominant Christian communities as dastardly and cowardly, especially coming at the Lenten Season.
He regretted the fact that the attacks has resulted in significant loss of lives and displacement of residents of several communities but commended the effort taken by the Federal government by directing the Management of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA to quickly release and distribute relief materials to the affected communities.
Bishop Adegbite also commiserated with the Government of Plateau state and Governor Caleb Mutfwang for the unfortunate incident and urged the affected communities to cooperate with the authorities and security agencies by volunteering information that would help in apprehending the perpetrators..
